The requesting city, utility or other authority determines its required forms, permits, inspections and acceptance. A contractor's report does not replace required approval or utility clearance.
HQ provides written inspection and pressure-test results. If a leak or another issue is found, repairs, retesting or additional approval steps may be needed before the system can be cleared. Confirm the requested deliverable and timing with HQ when scheduling.

In Phoenix, a restaurant's gas piping gets a city inspection and pressure test when it is installed or altered, and Southwest Gas checks it for leaks before turning gas on. The fire code's recurring check is the hood suppression system, which must shut off the cooking gas.

A gas line pressure test checks isolated piping for evidence of leaks under specified test conditions. Phoenix requires at least 1.5 times the proposed maximum working pressure, never below 3 psig, held for at least 10 minutes in a single-family home. A gauge drop indicates a leak unless it can be readily traced to another cause.
