Plumbing in Tolleson
Tolleson is a small but well-located West Valley city with a significant industrial and warehousing presence alongside its residential core. Homes here tend to be older and modestly sized, with plumbing infrastructure that reflects the age of the housing stock. Commercial and industrial properties in the area have their own plumbing demands: restroom facilities, process connections, and large-scale drain systems. HQ Plumbing & Air serves both residential and commercial clients in Tolleson.
Tolleson's residential homes are modest and older, often with aging galvanized supply lines. The industrial corridor has commercial plumbing needs that differ significantly. We serve both.

Backflow rules for Tolleson businesses
Tolleson is a warehouse and food-processing town, and its backflow rule reads like it. Tolleson City Code 10-7-5 lists the premises that need an approved backflow assembly as the minimum at every service connection: food processing, canneries and packing houses, dairies and cold storage, commercial laundries, car washes, medical and dental buildings, shopping centers and buildings over three stories or 34 feet. Nearly every row is marked reduced pressure (RP). Restaurants are not listed by name, but the city's plumbing code amendment still requires an RP assembly on the water supply to each soda dispenser.
Section 10-7-3 puts the cost of each required assembly on the user, which can be the tenant or the owner depending on the lease. Section 10-7-7 then sets the yearly routine. A certified tester approved by the Building Department tests the assembly at least once a year, on the anniversary of its first inspection, and the user tells the Building Department 15 days before each test so a city representative can watch if it wants to. A new, repaired, repiped or relocated assembly is inspected and tested before the certificate of occupancy is issued, and the records go on the department's forms.
The 15-day notice is the step owners miss most. Send it early and keep a dated copy. Our code library walks through both Tolleson sections, with the full table.
Grease, oil and sand interceptors on the Tolleson sewer
Tolleson City Code 11-3-1 lets the Utilities Director require a pretreatment system for industrial flows, to hold back certain wastes, spread out heavy discharges or reach a result the Director sets. Every pretreatment system needs plans signed by an Arizona-licensed engineer, the Director's approval and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality's, and section 11-3-2 says no construction starts until the approvals are in writing. Industrial users also hold a discharge permit, which section 11-2-2 limits to 12 months.
Grease, oil and sand interceptors are required where the city finds them necessary, of a type and size the city approves, and the owner keeps them working at the owner's expense. The code has no sizing table and no pumping calendar, so the city's approval decides both. Residential buildings don't need one.
HQ services grease traps and interceptors of all sizes. After your pumper empties the device, a three-person crew enters it under OSHA confined-space rules to reinstall broken baffles, then we hydro jet and camera the lines in and out so no grease is left building up.
Water heaters and older supply lines in Tolleson homes
Tolleson's homes are mostly modest and older, and two calls come up again and again: the water heater and the supply lines. A tank that rumbles, leaks at the base, or runs out of hot water early is usually full of hard-water scale or near the end of its life. We repair and replace tank and tankless water heaters, and we tell you plainly which one makes sense for your house.
Older homes often still have galvanized supply lines, which rust from the inside. Low pressure at every faucet, brown water after the water sits, or a water bill that climbs with no new use are the usual signs. We find hidden water line leaks with a line locator and ultrasonic sounding equipment, so the search doesn't turn into a large dig, and our work carries a two-year workmanship warranty.

How do I verify a plumber's license in Arizona?
Use the Arizona Registrar of Contractors free public license search at roc.az.gov/search. Look up the plumber by license number, business name, or qualifying-party name, then confirm the license is Active, the classification matches your job, the bond is current, and the complaint history is clean before you sign anything.

A slab leak can develop when a buried supply pipe corrodes, rubs against concrete or soil, or is stressed by ground movement, thermal expansion or excessive pressure. Water chemistry can contribute to copper pitting, but hardness alone does not identify the cause. Leaks beneath a slab can remain hidden.
