Does Delta have a lifetime faucet warranty?

Updated September 29, 2026
Quick Answer

Yes, for faucets bought from authorized Delta sellers. Delta covers defects in parts and finishes for as long as the original buyer owns the home where the faucet was first installed. Commercial buyers get 5 or 10 years. Delta repairs or replaces defective parts free but doesn't pay labor, and the warranty isn't transferable.

What does Delta's warranty cover, and for how long?

Delta says all parts, other than electronic parts and batteries, and all finishes of Delta faucets bought from authorized Delta sellers are warranted to the original consumer purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship. The coverage lasts for as long as the original purchaser owns the home where the faucet was first installed.

The clock is different for a business or landlord:

  • Multi-family residential: 10 years. Delta defines this as a purchaser who owns but doesn't live in the dwelling, such as a rented single-family home, duplex, townhome, condo or apartment building.
  • Other commercial use: 5 years. Delta lists industrial, institutional and business premises, including dorms, hotels and motels, airports, schools, hospitals and care facilities, public spaces and common areas.
  • Starting point: In both cases the term runs from the date the original purchaser, or their authorized representative such as an installation contractor, received the product.

Two other terms sit alongside the main one. Electronic parts, other than batteries, are covered for 5 years for a homeowner and 1 year for commercial purchasers. Delta gives no warranty on batteries. Faucets sold as Delta Recertified carry a 10-year warranty for consumers and 1 year for commercial buyers.

Delta also says the warranty applies only to Delta faucets manufactured after January 1, 2019 and installed in the United States, Canada and Mexico. An older faucet may be governed by an earlier version of the terms.

Our page on what a smart faucet is and whether it's worth it covers how touch and touchless models are powered.

What will Delta do if a part fails?

Delta says it will repair or replace, free of charge and during the applicable warranty period, any part or finish that proves defective in material or workmanship under normal installation, use and service. It may use new, refurbished or recertified parts or products for that repair or replacement. If repair or replacement isn't practical, Delta may choose to refund the purchase price in exchange for the return of the product.

Note what that adds up to. The remedy is repair, replacement or a refund at Delta's election, and Delta calls these your exclusive remedies. You don't get to pick a brand-new faucet in a different finish. If the drip is coming from a worn cartridge, the warranty is written to cover exactly that kind of part, and our page on how to replace a Delta faucet cartridge shows how to identify and swap it.

What isn't covered?

The exclusions are where most claims stall.

  1. 1Labor. Any labor charges you pay to repair, replace, install or remove the product aren't covered. Delta repeats this in its limits on special and consequential damages. A free part still needs someone to install it.
  2. 2Unauthorized sellers. Delta says it can't control the quality of Delta products sold by unauthorized sellers, so unless the law says otherwise, the warranty doesn't cover them. Check where you bought the faucet.
  3. 3Wear and tear, outdoor use and freezing. Delta isn't liable for damage from reasonable wear and tear, outdoor use or freezing water.
  4. 4Misuse, abuse and neglect. That includes using the product for an unintended application.
  5. 5Installation and repair mistakes. Delta excludes damage from improper or incorrectly performed installation, maintenance or repair, including failure to follow the care and cleaning instructions.
  6. 6Special, incidental or consequential damages. Water damage to a cabinet or floor from a leaking faucet falls here.

Delta adds two recommendations: use a professional plumber for all installation and repair of faucets, and use only genuine Delta replacement parts. Those are recommendations rather than listed exclusions, but a botched install is an exclusion, so the advice has teeth. Our page on how to fix a dripping faucet covers what a simple repair involves.

### How is it different from Moen's warranty?

Both promise coverage for as long as the original buyer owns their home, and both exclude labor. The differences are in the details. Delta's commercial terms split into 10 years for multi-family and 5 for everything else, while Moen's sheet gives all non-homeowners 5 years. Moen's sheet requires the original receipt with every claim and covers faucets bought after December 1995. Delta's page ties coverage to faucets made after January 1, 2019 and bought from authorized sellers. Our page on whether Moen has a lifetime faucet warranty has the Moen side.

### Is the Delta warranty transferable?

No, it isn't, and that matters when a house changes hands. Delta states that this is its exclusive written warranty and that the warranty is not transferable. If you sell the house, the buyer shouldn't count on inheriting it. It also means that if you're the second owner of a house with Delta faucets, the original owner's coverage isn't yours, and you should assume the faucets are out of warranty unless Delta tells you otherwise.

How do you make a Delta warranty claim?

Delta gives the steps.

  1. 1Gather your details. Delta asks for your model number, date of original purchase and documentation of the date the original purchaser or their contractor received the product.
  2. 2Have proof of purchase. The original sales receipt showing the purchase date must be available for all claims, unless you've registered the product with Delta or it's a Recertified product bought from deltafaucet.com. That makes registering a faucet worth the two minutes. The FTC gives the same general advice: keep the receipt with the warranty, since it proves the purchase date and that you're the original owner.
  3. 3Contact Delta. Call 1-800-345-DELTA (3358), or use the mail address or online contact form on Delta's warranty page.
  4. 4Know the part you need. Our page on how to replace a Delta faucet cartridge explains which is which.

The FTC also notes that a warranty won't necessarily cover every repair and that unlisted parts should be assumed uncovered. Read Delta's exclusions before you call.

### What about implied warranties?

Delta's terms limit implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the statutory period or the duration of the warranty, whichever is shorter, to the maximum extent the law allows. Delta notes that some states and provinces don't allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, and some don't allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages. The FTC explains that implied warranties are unspoken promises created by state law. Whether one applies to your faucet is a legal question, so your state's consumer protection office is the place to ask.

### Should you use the warranty or call a plumber?

Use both, in that order. Order the covered part through Delta, then decide who installs it. A worn cartridge is a job many homeowners can handle. A valve inside a wall, a seized bonnet nut or a faucet that keeps leaking after a new part is worth a professional look, and Delta itself recommends one. HQ Plumbing & Air is licensed and insured, gives free estimates and quotes an upfront price before the work starts. If a leak can't wait, we offer 24/7 service.
