An immediate flow loss after a whole-house cartridge change calls for checking the work just performed: exact replacement part, seating, valve positions and the model's restart. A normal no-flow pressure reading does not rule out a restriction under demand. Stop if connections leak; do not raise the regulator setting to compensate before the filter path is checked.
Match the actual part to the system
Read the complete system label and new cartridge identifier. The 3M Aqua-Pure AP900-series product sheet lists different replacement elements for AP902, AP903 and AP904. These are specific combinations, not proof that any similarly shaped element performs the same treatment or allows the same flow.
That sheet expressly says its installation tips are informational and are not actual installation instructions. Use the actual owner's manual for fitting, valve operation and commissioning. Do not invent a common cartridge-turning or housing-tightening step for every whole-house system.
Check the accessible post-service conditions
Compare safely reachable valve positions with the actual installation diagram. Note a valve deliberately left isolated, a bypass changed during service, or tubing displaced by the work. Do not force a stuck valve or dismantle a pressurized housing.
For an installed GE GXWH04F or GXWH20S, identify the red pressure-release button, separate shutoff or bypass and blue timer. Pressing a release button or resetting a reminder does not replace the actual model’s supply-isolation procedure.
Record whether every treated tap is weak or only one fixture. A problem confined to one aerator or branch needs a different investigation. If there is an active leak, isolate the accessible supply safely and arrange repair before continuing tests.
Separate static pressure from flow restriction
Pressure with all water use stopped and pressure while water is moving answer different questions. A restricted filter can require evaluation during the relevant demand; a reassuring resting number is not a complete flow test.
PNNL's service-pressure guidance addresses regulation and measurement of the supply. It does not authorize raising a regulator to overcome an unverified filter fault. The Watts LF25AUB-Z3 instructions separately list downstream flow/pressure issues that can require checking valves and restrictions.
Have the provider compare actual upstream and downstream conditions at suitable existing test points while the affected load operates. Do not add a pressure tap or alter the regulator just to obtain a number.
Verify the correction and treatment path
Complete the exact maker's startup and flushing instructions once the cause is corrected. If new dark particles or a taste change accompanied the flow loss, report those separately; the carbon-particle guide and the post-filter taste guide explain those acceptance questions.
The existing whole-house filter schedule covers routine replacement. Softener pressure loss is a related hydraulic topic, but bypassing treatment may change water quality. Verify both restored flow and the intended treatment arrangement before calling the service complete.
