Why does my heated bidet seat feel cooler and its power light go off between uses?

Updated October 4, 2026
Quick Answer

Some heated bidet seats lower seat heat while idle. Brondell's cited S1400 manual says selected Eco Mode changes the seat to Low after inactivity, lights the green Eco indicator and turns other seat lights off. That differs from a failed power supply. Match the actual model and settings, and stop use for damage or electrical hazards.

Match the standby behavior to the installed seat

A cooler seat between uses can be a documented energy-saving state. Check the manufacturer, complete model and the seat's visible indicators before treating the change as a household hot-water problem or ordering a heater.

The Brondell Swash S1400 owner's manual describes optional Eco Mode. When selected, it activates after approximately ten minutes without seat-sensor activation or remote-button activity. The seat heater changes to Low, the Eco light turns green and the other seat lights turn off. The manual says Eco Mode is cancelled at the factory by default.

Those details belong to the cited S1400 equipment. They do not establish another bidet seat's standby time, button sequence or factory setting. Read the actual manual before changing a comfort setting.

An extinguished indicator does not tell the whole story

The S1400 seat-display section specifically says its Power Indicator turns off when Eco Mode activates. Its separate seat-temperature indicator also turns off in that state. A green Eco indicator with the documented idle behavior therefore differs from an unexplained unit that has stopped responding altogether.

Record the display state and whether the change occurs only after inactivity. Do not treat an apparently normal indicator pattern as proof that wiring is safe or a damaged seat can be used. A returning fault or changed operation needs manufacturer assessment.

Keep seat heat separate from wash-water heat

The S1400 specification sheet lists heated-seat settings separately from wash-water temperature and its ceramic water heater. Changing seat comfort is not the same task as correcting wash-water temperature or altering the home's heater.

This electric model's manual requires a cold-water supply. It is different from a dual-temperature attachment connected to nearby hot plumbing. The bidet-type comparison explains those product differences. Use the matching seat and water-temperature controls instead of copying another attachment's connection instructions.

Preserve user and electrical precautions

Brondell cautions that children, seniors and people with sensitive skin or impaired heat sensitivity need the specified Low or Off heat settings and appropriate supervision. Eco Mode does not make every heat setting safe for every user. Follow the manual's precautions for the person using the seat.

Stop using damaged or malfunctioning equipment, keep clear of wet electrical parts and obtain appropriate manufacturer or electrical service. Do not open the housing or bypass the occupied-seat sensing as a troubleshooting shortcut. Bidet installation planning and attachment connections concern separate water and outlet work. A documented idle setting usually calls for understanding the controls, not changing a hose or turning up a water heater.
