Why has my bidet attachment stopped spraying even though the toilet fills normally?

Updated October 4, 2026
Quick Answer

A normally filling toilet does not prove that water reaches its bidet attachment. Check the attachment's own control, visible hose and model-specific connections before replacing parts. Follow its cleaning instructions for an accessible nozzle. Stop if a fitting leaks or the supply cannot be isolated; do not disconnect a pressurized hose to test flow.

Identify the attachment and the recent change

Find the model on the product or its paperwork. An unheated attachment, a dual-temperature attachment and an electric cleansing seat need different checks. This page uses Brondell's LES-10 and SMB-15/SMB-25 attachment instructions as examples. An electronic seat has additional controls and should be checked using its own manual.

Record whether spraying stopped after installation, a seat adjustment or cleaning, or whether it weakened gradually. Those histories help locate the changed condition. For the original layout, installing a bidet attachment explains the supply branch and mounting arrangement.

Inspect the controls and hose without disconnecting them

Compare the operating knob position with the owner's diagram. The SMB instructions distinguish wand positioning from turning the water on, so an extended wand alone does not establish that its water control is open. Another model may combine those functions differently.

Check visible tubing for a sharp bend or a section trapped behind the toilet or stored items. Do not pull on a connection to straighten it. If a fitting is leaking, stop using the attachment and close the identified supply if safe. A stuck shutoff or rigid connection needs attention before any hose removal.

The maker's installation guide specifies the supplied T-valve arrangement and washers. Do not rotate an assembled, pressurized T-valve or loosen a fitting to see whether water comes out. Those actions can start a leak at the toilet fill-valve connection too.

Clean only what the model allows

Brondell's SMB care instructions allow cleaning the accessible spray wand and nozzle. Use that product's cleaning method without forcing the wand, enlarging nozzle holes or adding an unapproved chemical. If the permitted cleaning does not restore operation, have the branch and attachment evaluated instead of dismantling its internal valve.

Different types of bidet seats and attachments separates the equipment designs. Whether a plumber is needed for a bidet explains the supply, electrical and backflow-protection questions. Restored spray does not establish that an altered connection meets the installation requirements.
